Of all the food-packaging products, Sugarcane has the least environmental impact. It takes one year to regrow, and can be harvested quicker than most commercial woods, making it highly affordable. ‘Bagasse’ is the name of the dry, pulpy waste fibre left after sugarcane has been pressed for its juice.
Bagasse creates packaging that is smooth and creamy in texture – almost paper like. It holds its shape, is oil proof, water resistant, fridge, freezer and microwave safe (up to 220°C). It's heat resistant (up to 100°C) and is breathable as a result (your food won’t sweat). The product is also 100% renewable and compostable - perfect for takeaway boxes, containers, disposable plates, bowls and serviettes.
